The following services are available in Hernando County:

 

Adoption: Services provided to birth parents facing an untimely pregnancy and considering adoption planning include pregnancy counseling, medical and living expenses, and post-adoption counseling and support. For couples wishing to build their family through adoption, home studies and post-placement supervision is provided.   Search services for persons interested in reunification with their children or natural parents are available to adoptees and families placed through Catholic Charities’ Adoption program.  Appointments and services are available days, evenings and weekends.

 

Counseling:  Mental health professionals provide individual, marriage, family and group counseling services to those experiencing a broad range of personal, relationship and family problems.  We provide conveniently scheduled sessions on a sliding fee scale, ensuring that mental health services are affordable to those in need.

 

Pregnancy and Parenting Support Services: Trained staff and volunteers offer confidential, comprehensive services to women and their families facing the challenges of pregnancy and early parenthood.  Services include free pregnancy testing, information on adoption, mentoring program, prenatal and childbirth information, post-natal and parenting information, maternity and infant supplies, community resource referrals and emergency food items.  Services are provided at no cost to the client.

 

Project Rachel:  Trained priests, lay support individuals and mental health professionals offer healing and reconciliation services to families and individuals affected by the aftermath of an abortion.  Services include a weekend retreat, which offers emotional and spiritual support and assistance in working through repressed grief and anger, and a support group that addresses guilt, grief, anger, relationships and healing. Retreats and support groups are available evenings and weekends.                  

 

Respite Program:  The Respite Care Program is designed to meet the growing needs of the elderly population in Hernando County.  Staff and trained volunteers provide center-based respite to early stage Alzheimer’s and other memory loss clients and their caregivers.  “Care Too” operates four hours every Tuesday  and Friday at our Northern Counties Regional Center.  The program also provides caregiver support services and training and technical assistance to groups seeking to develop caregiver programs.  The fee is $20.00 per session
